Perhaps you found a faulty baseboard heater or thermostat or maybe a water pump that cycled on and off continually because of a small pipe leak. You may now decide that the cost of running a tropical fish tank with a heater and filter may not be economically feasible any more. How would you determine the cost of that fish tank? The way I do it is with a device called a "Watts-Up Power Analyzer". This is a data logger that allows 120 volt appliances( refrigerators, freezers, computer components, washing machines, to be plugged into it and it plugs into the wall socket. It records a number of things including voltage, watts, on- off time, monthly cost, etc. This information can then be downloaded to your computer and viewed in graph form.
